Zoom Sessions

This section describes the various Zoom sessions, how to register for them and what to do if you cannot attend.

Students on the Light Course should note that they will ONLY be doing Welcome to Extinction Rebellion and Nonviolent Direct Action. However, if any of the other study sessions appeal to you, you are welcome to register and attend. Click on each study session for a brief outline.

The Team Meetings

These are a great way to get to know your fellow students, share information about how you are getting on, ask questions and find support.

  • The Meet & Greet Event is attended by members of the Foundation Programme Team and some of your Trainers. We explain how to use the Schedule & Checklist for anyone who is not familiar with technology, and the trainersTrainers outline their trainings.sessions.

  • The Mid Point Check-ins are very informal opportunities to chat with your fellow students, discuss how you are progressing with the course and complete simple questionnaires so we can continually assess the effectiveness and accessibility of the Foundation Programme. The forms are done online, on the spot, and will be kept anonymous, insofar as we, the Team, do not know who makes which comments.

  • The Next Steps event, apart from celebrating your success in working through the course, is where you have the chance to hear from some XR UK team representatives about roles they are keen to fill using our students.

The Study Sessions

All the Study Sessions are live and it is best to attend these if possible. If you cannot manage to come to a session, you may have the option of booking a late date or watching a recorded version. Links to recordings are in Column 6 of the Course Schedule:
**Welcome to Extinction Rebellion**

This runs every Tuesday evening from 7.00- 8.30pm plus 30 minutes for Q&A.

Please note that Introduction to Meetings and Nonviolent Direct Action are not recorded. This is because they are very interactive and your presence is part of the learning process.

  • If you wish to attend a future Introduction to Meetings session, please check the document that open when you click on the link, as it usually offers a few dates. Alternatively, please contact us and we will chck dates with the Facilitation Circle which offers this session.
  • There is a module on Nonviolent Direct Action

Registering for ZoomTeam trainingsMeetings and Study Sessions

Students are asked to register in advance for the live Zoom study trainings:

  • Click on the link to go to the registration page. Please note that some registration pages offer more than one date for a training, e.g. Welcome to XR runs every week, so do make sure you register for the correct one, or it might clash with another of your trainings.

  • Once registered, you will receive an email with the link to click to join the meeting. These do get lost amongst other emails, and the headings are not always helpful, so we suggest you forward them to yourself with a really clear heading eg 28TH JUNE JOIN INTRO TO MEETINGS.

If you register for any training but then cannot attend, please de-register so trainers have a fair idea of attendee numbers. You can do this using the link in your registration confirmation email.

If you find it difficult to attend any live Zoom trainings

  • Those marked with an asterisk* in the table above have recorded versions you can watch. Click the link in Column 6 of the Schedule next to that training.
